There is also a lot more information and advice about finding the right bra on the Bra Advice page.
Problem- The back of bra rides up your back, or is high on your back, not level with the front of the bra. This means that your back size is too big, so your bra does not stay in place properly, and rides up, or is positioned too high on your back.
Solution- you need to try a smaller back size, this will ensure your bra stays in position below the bust. You also need to consider the cup size, when you reduce your back size, you are reducing the whole width of the bra, so this means the width of the cups are reduced slightly. So if the cups on your bra fit well, it may be worth considering also going up a cup size, to give you the extra room in the cup that you are loosing by going down a back size. My advice is to try both the same cup size and the larger one, and see which is the best fit. (eg. if you are wearing a 44E and the back size is too big, try a 42E, and a 42F)
Problem- You are falling out below the cup of the bra, or the cups ride up out of position with movement. This normally indicates that the cups are too small, so you don’t stay in them properly, and also that your back size is too big, so the cups don’t stay in place below the bust.
Solution- you firstly need to go down a back size, so that the bra will stay in position under your bust. You also need to try a larger cup size, so that you fit in the cup properly. As you have reduced your back size, and therefor narrowed the width of the cup, it may even be better to go up two cup sizes, to allow for some extra room in the cup, which you are losing by going down a back size. (eg. if you are wearing a 44D, and are falling out below the cups, try a 42DD and a 42E)
Problem- Falling out the top of the cups. This is because your cup size is too small, and you don’t fit in the cups properly.
Solution- you need to go up a cup size, to allow more room in the cups, so you fit in it properly. Keep your back size the same, and go up a cup size, or more than one if it is necessary to get a good fit.(eg. you are wearing a 40C and fall out the top of the cups. Try a 40D, or 40DD if you feel you need to)
Problem- Straps digging in at the shoulder. This is quite often particularly a problem for larger busted ladies, and can sometimes be caused because your bra is not supporting you properly around the bust, and therefore, putting extra strain on the straps to give support. This can also happed if your bra straps are particularly thin, as all of the support is coming from a very narrow part of your shoulder.
Solution- firstly you need to ensure your bra is supporting you correctly below your bust, if the under wire, or bottom support of the bra is not firmly in place it will not support you properly. In this case, go down a back size, so that your bra is firm below your bust. You may also need to consider going up a cup size, so you have the extra space in your cup that you loose by going down a back size. (eg if you are wearing a 42E, try a 40E and a 40F ) If your bra is fully supportive around the bust, try a style with wider straps, so that the strain of the straps is put on a larger area of your shoulder.
Problem-Bra straps keep falling down. This is usually due to the straps being uneven, or too loose.
Solution- adjust your straps so that they are slighlty tighter, ensuring that they are even, until they are comfortable, and stay firmly in place with movement.
Problem- underwired bras digging in at the sides. this is usually because the cup of the bra is too small, so the wires dig in at the sides, where the bra is tight.
Solution- if your bra is also tight below your bust, go up a back size. This will make the bra more comfortable under your bust, and also give extra width to the cup, to allow you room in the cup so the wires won’t dig in. (eg, if you are wearing a 38D, try a 40D) If your bra is a good fit below the bust, go up a cup size to allow extra room in the cup, so the wire won’t dig in. (eg if you are wearinga 38D, try a 38DD) Underwired bras can be very uncomfortable if they are not the right size. It is very important that when you try on an underwired bra you ensure the wires are sat flat against your body all the way round.
Problem- Underwires or bra support digging in under your bust. This is usually because your bra is too tight around you.
Solution- you need to try a bigger back size, so that your bra will not be so tight. If the cup of your bra is a good fit you may also need to consider going down a cup size. By going up a back size you widen the width of the cup, so there will be more space in the cup. a smaller cup size will reduce the extra space you have gained in the cup by going up a back size. (eg. if you are wearing a 42E, try a 44E, and a 44DD)
